KUALA TERENGGANU: A house painter was found dead with nine gunshot wounds to his body at his house in Kampung Jelapang, Sungai Tong, in Setiu.

His uncle discovered the blood-soaked body when he reached the house yesterday.

Terengganu Criminal Investi*gation Department chief Asst Comm Wan Abd Aziz Wan Hamzah said the painter had seven criminal records, including drug-related cases, assault using firearms and extortion cases.

Police said they found gunshot wounds on the neck, chest, left arm and buttocks.

“There were a couple of shots on the left leg of the 37-year-old man too,” ACP Wan Abd Aziz said.

He said that based on the bullet shells found at the house, the nine shots fired were believed to be from two different guns.

“The uncle found his nephew’s body sprawled in a pool of blood near the front door of the village house about 4.30am,” said ACP Wan Abd Aziz.
