SINGAPORE: One community case was among 15 new COVID-19 infections reported in Singapore as of noon on Wednesday (Apr 21).
The case, identified as Case 62200, is currently unlinked. He is a 39-year-old permanent resident who works as a systems engineer at Parkway Pantai.
The man has been working from home and has not returned to his workplace, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
He had travelled to India from Jul 9, 2020 to Jan 24, 2021. When he returned to Singapore, he served his stay-home notice at a dedicated facility until Feb 7. His test taken on Feb 6 during his stay-home notice was negative for COVID-19.
The man is asymptomatic and was detected when he took a COVID-19 pre-departure test on Apr 19 in preparation for a trip. His test came back positive the next day and he was taken to the National Centre of Infectious Diseases in an ambulance.
"His Ct value was very high, which is indicative of a low viral load, and his serology test result has come back positive," said MOH.
The ministry added that the man could be shedding minute fragments of the virus RNA from a past infection which are no longer transmissible and infective to others.
However, as MOH is unable to to "definitively conclude" where the man was infected, it will take "all the necessary public health actions as a precautionary measure".
