Another foreign worker dies !!!

A construction worker died on Thursday morning after falling from the Silversea condominium project in Marine Parade.

The Straits Times understands that the Bangladeshi worker was doing exterior, window-related work at Tower 1 of the property, when the scaffolding collapsed.

He then plunged 18 storeys to his death.

The Amber Road development's expected completion date is December this year.

Exterior work at 18 storeys should have been wearing a safety harness. Even if the scaffolding collapsed, the worker should be secured to something firm. First world country should have higher work safety standards.

You guys want to do this job? Foreigners are needed in Singapore, no local boys want this kind of work, and your parent's heart would break if you guys had to do this kind of work. Just my thoughts.

You guys want to do this job? Foreigners are needed in Singapore, no local boys want this kind of work, and your parent's heart would break if you guys had to do this kind of work. Just my thoughts.

this is another example of poor safety measure
i am sure the contractor will be questioned on the safety measures - whether they have been following the guidelines
you have a safety officier at every work site and these guys are all trained and certified....and yet we see so many industrial accidents ,some of them are fatal...

some High Steel workers taking it real easy ...

The Mohawk are well known for their work on high steel construction projects, especially in New York City.

Can we employ them ? The High Steel Mohawk Indians to work on our high rise flats?

most of these workers are unskilled and untrained
they should not be allowed to work on high buildings
we are having very poor unskilled labourers here
my friend got his house painted by some of these foreign workers
engaged by a fat singaporean contractor who did not even inspect the place
after the painting,my friend has to get another contractor to clean up the place
the work was really bad...and he intends to sue the first contractor....
his marble floor was badly stained,his doors and windows splashed and all his bedrooms
stained by the paint...it was a horrendous job!!!

why are we getting all these unskilled and untrained workers here

Our leaders life is also worthless once they are dead. But our leaders when alive will think that sacrificing a few lifes for the benefits of a lot of people is worth. E.g. building casinos to take the anticipated amount of lifes with it, is worth for the progress of sg.
