Another Close Election Result - by 5 votes

The recent PE was not the first time in Singapore where a candidate won by a narrow margin - check out this 0.1% (5-vote) majority. In this case though the winner did not claim to unify all Singaporeans (or even his constituency).

Even the percentages looked familiar.
Right after that election in 1959, Liberal Socialist Party merged into Singapore People's Alliance, recognizing that the 3-corner fight split the votes against the PAP.

That was 52 years ago... probably way too long ago for Singaporeans to remember and learn from it.
