When that m&d is driving away from the road block, can that police tell if he was running away due to drugs/due to no license? Can tell on the spot if fugitive have a 2 month old boy?

this is really stupid reasoning. what if the car was really loaded with bombs and the policeman did not fire and it crash through and goes into shangrila lobby and detonate and kill 200+ people??? then the policeman gets blame for killing 200+ people indirectly and then you would have alot of arm chair idiots like you also criticizing the policeman for not shooting the man in the head and averting a huge bomb blast.

the only way to prevent such a tragedy is to have a clairvoyant bullet. before the bullet hits the suspect's head, it will scan his facial image, do a google, yahoo, bing search, or any spf database lookup. and if his profile and background are available on the internet, apps on the bullet will correlate with linkedin, facebook, instagram, and all social media apps to ensure that he is not with a terror organization but more so without terrorism on his mind. for this the bullet must drill into his mind to fully understand his mentality and behavioral tendencies, and if he is just a simple druggie dad who gets lost and attempts to escape, the bullet will cum to a screeching halt and make a u-turn to return to the shooter. of course, there is no such bullet. :p

Next time haf shangrila dialogue, road must be a place where U turn is possible: just like ERP gangrty haf WARNING sign so those not interested in moving ahead can U turn back. The driver probably thought it was drunk driving road block only: so not prepared for boot open/ check: shows that the death was caused by misunderstanding. Also, probably high powered rifkle was used, otherwise, won't be passenger also got injured (shot: I believe): if just hand gun used, probably only one victim and not two: think ministars must come clean: I do not think it was mainly policeman life at risk: they just wanted to stop car at all costs because shangrilah dialogue going on and all delegates stay @ shangrilah hotel.

If policeman @ roadblock stand around like christmas party/ openhouse, then road block is poorly designed: for real anti-terror road block: should have enough boulder/ reinforced cover spots for gun fight: machine gun post included I not surprised: police killed the Malay driver because they wanted to stop any possible car bomb plot: police must please come clean: it was paranoia of terrorist and terrorism, not policeman's life.

My Verdict:
Policeman = ill-prepared, PARANOID and thus trigger happy.
Less lethal methods of immobilising car probably ABSENT: thus the default (tragic) need for lethal force to be used.

If police were professional: they would have deployed tank/ mine sweeper (big armoured vehicle) to the area to act as mobile physical barrier (just by turning 90degrees to broad side: whole road is blocked) should some car attempt to get through for reasons other than terrorist bomb (which is not uncommon I believe):

Singapore is first world rich nation (PM Lee earns a lot of $$$): so anti-terror road block locations shouldn't use 'shoot driver in head with M16 rifle' as default option of choice. If security risk was indeed to high, then whole road should have been BLOCKED/ even converted into ONE WAY STREET: only cars with preregistered registration plate numbers would be allowed to enter/ pass.

You are right. I believe the US and other anti terrorist units eliminate everyone in the car. Not just the driver. the reason is that if these are muslim terrorist suicide bombers, no point with just killing the driver. the rest of the passengers will simply exit the car and shoot their AK at you or detonate their suicide vest. Also, if the car itself is a bomb, disabling the driver does not prevent another passenger from detonating it.

Even if the police shoot the driver in the head, one of the 3 passengers can easily detonate the car bomb stupid. all it is is a switch in the car. U have to shoot all 4 occupants quickly and effectively to prevent this. If these were terrorist and they can't get to the shangri la lobby, they will be more then happy to detonate the car bomb and kill as many police as they can. So, bottom line is your logic makes no sense. If its a potential car bomb and 4 terrorists, why not shoot all 4 and not just one?

Yeah lor, so fucking chun. All 3 passengers each got one packet of heroin weighing exactly 3g for a total of 9g. In most countries, 3g is personal consumption. but never mind SPF brand them all as drug traffickers.
