[Video - "Thucydide Trap" proposer: Song Dynasty's enlightenment on Sino-US relations] Professor Graham Ellison, the American political scientist and author of the "Thucydides trap" theory, believes that the Central Plains of China during the Song Dynasty The "competitive cooperation" relationship with Liao and Jin has provided China and the United States with an idea to avoid war. However, he also pointed out that North Korea and Taiwan may still be the external fuses of the Sino-US conflict. ftchinese.com/video/3066?cco…

Good hokkiens are perfect embodiment of Song Dynasty spirit treating foreigner traders as partners and competitors. As certified by UNESCO, hokkiens in Quanzhou were welcoming and tolerant of foreigner traders who brought benefits and prosperity to the city then.

bs lah. in fact song made the mistake of joining forces with jurchens (jin) to eliminate the liao dynasty in the northeast. liao acted as a buffer for song against the very aggressive jurchens. this would repeat itself 696 years later during the ming dynasty. jurchens, jin, manchus are from the same nomadic tribes. during the joint jin-song military campaign against liao, jurchens observed that song had weaknesses and would plan and hone future campaigns against the song once liao was eliminated. sure enough, after defeating liao, jin captured song capital and forced song to split its empire into north and south. and eventually usurped and conquered northern song and converted it to jin. when western xia (another buffer state in northwest) came under attack by mongols, song was powerless and ineffective to help xixia ward off the true danger. when jin was invaded by mongols, song also did not help as it was still an enemy of jin for losing northern song. thus, mongols could conquer each smaller state piecemeal one by one without any combined threat from all three. and finally after tanguts (xixia) and jurchens (jin) were subjugated, mongols turned their combined might on song. song had the ultimate loser strategy by killing off her buffer states and then turtling herself like a holy hymen bent on protecting her virginity from penetration all alone. sure kena fucked upside down when it was a massive gangbang comprising mongols, defeated tanguts, defeated liao, defeated jin, and defeated northern song.

But in @ginfreely's case, she is lucky (or "lucky") enough to have the protection (or "protection") of both @Leongsam and @AhMeng (the shameless, unrepentant "proud mangina" clone of @killborat and a traitor who betrayed us in our online war against @ginfreely)! :frown:

but the tragedy was song buay song betrayed that alliance after a century of peace by joining forces with jin to destroy liao, which acted as a buffer state against jin. song should change her empire to buay song, liao should be renamed liao liao although buay liao was better (could last forever), and jin to gin.

Ya Song Dynasty was the one that breached the alliance by ganging up with Jin to finish Liao although Liao was not much better to demand higher annual payments from Song. Proven all parties of contract should stick to terms of contract to avoid BIGGER problems to themselves in the end.

After jin fell, mongols attack song from two sides. North which had several huge river hindrance and through mountainous yunan which song did not expect.
Current china border was created by mongols.eventually, it wss mongols who united china, and not shi huang ti.

If Song didn’t breach the contract to gang up with Jin first, won’t create the problem of Jin fighting Song and Song won’t need to gang up with Mongol to fight Jin and that means Mongol won’t have the chance to eat up Song eventually. So follow the terms of contract is indeed very important. Am I right @eatshitndie?

Come to think of it, mudland is like Liao indeed no follow agreement by demanding higher annual payment from Song. No wonder Song Dynasty buay song. Song emperor already so kind to give them money for nothing and still dare to ask for more!

Although the money paid to Liao was nothing to Song - the rich neighbour - being one percent or less of Song annual revenue or defense spending. But why should they pay more for nothing? Of course buay song lah.

Nevertheless Song emperor still cannot be forgiven for breaching the contract with Liao to partner with Jin instead. Very stupid to partner with more barbaric and more powerful dictator!
