HE spent three years growing up in Singapore in the 1990s.

Back then, the Swede stayed at Trevose Park, a private apartment at Whitley Road, with his parents and younger brother.

And when he was six years old, he won a green bicycle in a lottery arranged by the Swedish Church here.

When Mr Erik Ohlson, now 25, wanted to return to Singapore for a visit this year, he decided to use an unconventional mode of transport.

Instead of hopping on a plane, he left Stockholm, Sweden on an icy day in February on a bicycle.

He cycled 19,000km across Europe and Asia in 91/2 months. In that time, he crossed 18 countries, including Germany, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, China and Laos.

At around 11am yesterday, Mr Ohlson reached his final destination – the Merlion Park in Singapore.

Ang Mohs are the best.

This prove that Welfare state are screwing themselves. Instead of spending their most productive years contributing to their country, they leech on unemployment benefits and us it to explore the world
