The finance minister in the German state of Hesse, Thomas Schaefer, has taken his own life. His colleagues said he was pushed over the edge by the inability to cope with the harsh economic fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Schaefer’s body was discovered near the speed railway track line in the town of Hochheim am Main on Saturday. The prosecutors said that the cause of his death was most likely suicide.
“We are in shock; we are in disbelief and above all we are immensely sad,” Volker Bouffier, the head of the Hesse regional government, said of the passing of his close associate and fellow member of Angela Mekrel’s CDU party.

Hesse is one of the wealthiest states in Germany and home to Frankfurt am Main, which is regarded as the financial capital of Europe’s largest economy. The city hosts the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and the European Central Bank (ECB) as well as the HQs of Deutsche Bank and other major German companies.
Schaefer was credited for having contributed to the region’s well-being while serving as its finance minister for the last decade. The 54-year-old’s professional qualities were praised by many, with the man expected to eventually replace Bouffier as the state’s PM.
The coronavirus, however, delt a massive blow to the system he was so thoroughly tending all those years, sending stocks into a freefall and locking the workforce at home with quarantine.
Bouffier recalled that Schaefer, who leaves behind a wife and two children, was working “day and night” in order to minimize the impact of the pandemic on businesses and employees, but the task turned out to be unsurmountable. “We have to assume that he was deeply worried,” the PM said.
Germany has so far registered 62,095 coronavirus cases, with 541 patients succumbing to the disease. More than 721,000 people have been infected worldwide, with over 33,900 fatalities.

This incident proves my point beyond all doubt and that is that the economic and emotional consequences are causing far more harm than the virus itself.

This poor chap had a high profile and that's why his death is being reported. However there will hundreds of millions of others who are going to be equally traumatised when their funds run out and they're staring into the abyss.

The death rate from suicides and other reckless reactions eg drugs, alcohol, substance abuse and the onset of reckless abandon, etc will be higher than deaths from the virus itself. Mind you the majority of these deaths will consist of those in the productive age group compared to Covid-19 which will take out mainly the old and the weak.

Look, sad as it is, people in poor mental state are always liable to kill themselves anyway. If it was not Covid-19, it would've been something else.

I don't think this guy was in a poor mental state before the shit hit the fan.

Small bit of trivia, Hesse is where the Rothschilds rose to power.

Anywhere the Rothschilds are, there is always more to it than meets the eye.

Is death by train tracks a popular way to kill yourself in Germany? No mention of suicide note.

Boss Sam subscribing and echoing Trump's view that the cure cannot be worse than the disease...

Boss Sam subscribing and echoing Trump's view that the cure cannot be worse than the disease...

If a cure actually causes far more devastation to the world than the disease surely it's no longer a "view" it becomes a fact.

The problem at the moment is that this saga has not yet ended so we cannot yet compare body counts.

However if people start rioting and if swathes end up in poverty and deprivation I'd hate to think this was a result of an emotional response to an issue rather than one based upon science and logic.

Gone very bad in Germany already.

They have no money to buy warm clothing for the army during winter NATO games. No machine guns in some tanks, substituted with mockup guns made of broom sticks. They are indeed in very bad state. Their expenses are far exceeding their earning. Too much loaded by EU & NATO, all the fellow BANKRUPTED allies depending totally on them. EU & NATO on edge of falling apart. US is EXTORTING FROM NATO, Germany footing most of the bills.

Today ALL of the G7 are bankrupted without any exception, one is worse than another.

The Germans are committed to doing a good job. If they can't deliver the result, they will leave. And this chap did just that.

Now, can our ministars do that?

We have to look at what happened at point zero. The start of the outbreak in Wuhan.
What actually caused so many to die and created the panic.
