Two Caucasian buskers, who were spotted by several STOMPers beating on drums for money in public places, have written in to STOMP to defend their rights to live off their skills. They even say that it is something 'rich kids' in Singapore will not understand.
The couple had been spotted in public places like Waterloo Street and Parco Bugis Junction, beating on drums and juggling on balls, bringing in a steady stream of donations from passersby.
One STOMPer likened them to beggars, and that they were not displaying any endorsement letter or permit. When the STOMPer called the police and took pictures of them, the buskers immediately left the scene.
STOMP received an email, apparently from the buskers themselves, saying that the stories about them as reported by STOMPers are over-dramatised.
Said the buskers in the email:
"We are the buskers you wrote about and you totally over-dramatized the story.
"We are just surviving and Singaporean people like us. So what?
"I think some well-off rich kids from Singapore like you can't understand travellers around the world living off their skills."
