Ang Mo Professor comments on our GE 2015

SGP needs a major PAP cockup for it to happend. Maybe God can help?

Nice article….tightens the scroo….without overstepping the line.

Two paragraphs stand out:

Lee followed the announcement of the election date with hyperbolic statements about the election ushering in the next generation of leaders and the next prime minister. This wasn’t just a contrived effort to appear statesmanlike: it was also an attempt to disguise his desperation in the face of the high stakes for which he is playing. There are other indicators of his desperation as well. Calling an election eighteen months early is a clear sign of nervousness, and his new pattern of asking to be judged more by his father’s record (since 1965) than by his own (since 2004) is an implicit admission that his eleven years as prime minister have been less than wonderful.

A few days later I watched Lee Hsien Loong launch his party’s election manifesto and then downloaded and read the manifesto itself. Only at that point did it become clear that Lim’s admission was not part of any plan. I was struck by the timid, backward-looking nature of both Lee’s speech and the PAP manifesto. No new ideas; no hint of reflection; no revision; nothing very much that looks forward at all. This is not just bad news for the PAP; it is bad news for Singapore, since new ideas are desperately needed. Lee still has time to announce new ideas, but time is running out and I am beginning to wonder whether there is a single new idea in cabinet – or whether there has been for some time.

is it theoretically correct to say now ..LHL is not Prime minster untill 11sep result?

It's no surprise that they are berift of ideas once again, after all the only idea that had thus far for the past 10 years or so has been 'More foreigners = more GDP'. Filling the ministerial ranks with military yes men is definitely not helping.

You can see that in recent days, they have stepped up the mudslinging, throwing accusations at WP and continually hyping up their ivory tower version of integrity, knowing full well that WP's problems have been created by them, utilising government agencies as their pawns in undermining WP. Makes one wonder are they deriding WP time and again to make themselves think they might look better in the eyes of the populace. This gutter politics evidently shows that they are more intent on fixing the opposition for PAP's future, than serving the people for our future. Let's face it, the truly caring and visionary leaders of PAP are long gone and we are stuck with the natural aristocrats these days.

LHL have already divided our nation or it will happen in the near future. I suspect the repercussions will definitely be felt in the next two decades. When the people realise change is required, the problem could be too deeply ingrained. I worry for our future, as the golden era have died with LKY and PAP have clearly shown that they do not have the vision to bring Singapore and their people forward over the fifty years. I can only ask each and every one of you to think properly and think hard, whether we should give the opposition a chance to grow, for at least we might have a viable alternative, if PAP might fail us one day.

Michael Barr again. Loong must fix him good after the landslide victory at the elections.

if he donates his pay to at least one cardboard auntie i will believe him.

To retaliate, Flinders may not be recognised by PSC in the near future.
