I have a few friends who are teachers. One of them mentioned that what probably happened was that MOE screened these students through testing to weed out the ones eligible for Singapore govt. scholarships. But guess what? They are PRC after all, and Many cheat during the qualification exams and their submitted transcripts are also not completely honest. while most show very good grades in the sciences and maths (and these are substantiated in their classroom ability in these subjects), their "good" grades in english are all bullshit. Its only when they arrived in SIngapore and start going to school that the school administrators realized what they claim in their english level standard is a lie. Rather than send these students back to China for falsely misrepresenting their education qualifications or for potentially cheating on the english portion, MOE hire these tutors to give them a crash course on english. This serves the dual purpose of saving MOE's face by not having to admit their scholarship students are after all not really that scholarly, and also avoids angering the Chinese govt. if these students are send home. If only Sinkie students get so many breaks.

Yep, from lowly Principal of Gan Eng Seng to Director-General woh. Before Ho Ching became wife of Gay Loong, her best ability was to become Principal at Gan Eng Seng secondary school, not one of the elite schools like RI, ACS, etc. Not even a JC principal. After Whore Jinx became Mrs Gay Loong, don't know promoted how many times. If she got merit, wouldn't she have been Dean of a NUS Faculty or Hwa Chong Principal on her own before her sis got married?
