Sunny Verghese threw away his midnight boarding pass at the airport when a Bloomberg reporter rang to ask his comments on Muddy Waters allegations.

As soon as he got home at 1-30am, he called his chairman and nine other directors of the board to meet later in the morning, at 7am.

He also called a group of senior managers, his crisis management team, to discuss how to deal with the allegations BEFORE they present their options to the board. Action plans were drawn up and agreed upon.

The same evening, Mr Verghese and his management team held a media conference that lasted 90 minutes, most of which he spent defending the company.

For the next few days, he conducted an analyst and media conference to answer questions. The following day, he spoke to another group of more than seven media agencies.

Real CEOs handle crises big and small all the time. SG Generals only handle theatrical crises and games. Give them a real crisis you get SMRT.

Allegations for creative accounting and mismanagement of projects - 100% his pasah.
