Woman jumped twice to her death
Determined to die, a woman jumped off a HDB block twice. Having survived the first fall from the 2nd floor, she jumped again from the 9th floor.
This suicide took place on the afternoon of 4 Nov at Blk 127 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
The police were notified at 3pm that day. When they arrived at the scene, they saw the body of fair-skinned middle-aged woman at the HDB block. Medical staff pronounced her dead at 3.15pm.
The deceased was 59-year-old businesswoman Chen Xian Ling (translated). She was believed to have leapt off from the 9th floor corridor, near the elevator. Police officers also found a pair of grey shoes and a brown plastic chair.
Resident Wu Pei Qing who stays on the 2nd floor of Blk 126 told Lianhe Wanbao that she witnessed the woman jump from a lower floor but survived the fall. The woman then leapt off again from a higher floor.
Wu said that she was home from shopping with her two daughters when she spotted a middle-aged woman sitting on the ground floor at around 2.40pm. It was only when she discovered a pair of shoes and a plastic chair that she suspected the woman might be trying to kill herself. When she looked out of her door, she saw the woman walking up the stairs, her face white as sheet and she was shivering. She believed that it might be due to the shock she received when jumping off the 2nd floor.
Wu said that she did not acknowledged the deceased but witnessed her taking the pair of shoes and the plastic chair to the first floor and walked towards Blk 127. Wu said that the woman hesitated at the stairwell before deciding to take the elevator.
"I thought she was going back home, but less that 15 minutes later, I heard a loud "thud". I was terrified when I looked out the window to find her lying at the bottom of the block, After that, I called the Police," Wu said.
