A suspected veteran insurgent was killed in a gunfight with Thai security officials on Sunday night in Narathiwat's Reu So district.
The 50-strong combined security team raided a house in Tambon Sawor where a suspected insurgent was reportedly lying low at 11pm.
After a 30-minute gunfight, officials discovered the body of Abdulloh Beuraheng, 29, allegedly holding a pistol, with gunshot wounds to the head and torso in the bedroom.
Abdulloh was wanted for involvement in four national security cases including the previous shooting ambush that resulted in the death of four Reu So policemen and the shooting in last month's ambush that led to three bomb squad members getting serious injuries.
