Alstom was LTA's main trackworks contractor for the past 10 years.. They were given the tender in 2004 to do the trackworks for Circle Line, DTL 1 and DTL 2 projects.. For DTL 3 and Thomson Line projects, LTA gave it to a Taiwanese company..
To be fair back then Alstom paid our local workers involved in the LTA Circle Line, DTL 1 projects quite well.. The locals were given supervisory posts working inside tunnels..They were given good OT rates, 13 month bonus and end of project bonuses.. These locals were employed direct under Alstom S'pore branch management..
After that LTA fucktardly then decided not to give Alstom the tender for supplying local labour for their DTL 2 project.. That tender instead was given to a local Keling Kia labour supply company who profited alot by supplying LTA local workers for their DTL 2 project.. These locals were appointed Supervisors but were paid less than 2K a month.. Only their selected staff were given end of the year bonus.. Just imagine how much this Keling Kia labour supply company have profited by importing hundreds of Ah Neh labourers, Pinoy and S'porean tunnel supervisors for LTA DTL 2 and DTL 3 projects..
ya, i was in the consortium between Alstom and ST engr. working on the NE line, C752. ST pple are jealous pigs as i was the only local in the french team.
Alstom is not stupid. They know that if they want to do business in Spore or Indonesia you need to grease palms. It's all part of the culture of doing business in the 3rd world.
