Alleged pictures of HTC Aero appear (UPDATE)

Yesterday, we passed along a picture that claimed to show the back cover of the HTC Aero (aka the HTC A9). Looking very much like the back of an Apple iPhone 6, the picture was later exposed as a photoshopped fake. But there actually was some truth in the fake picture. You see, the image was photoshopped by someone who was told what the Aero looked like, and then put together the photoshopped image to match the description.

That might be the only way we can account for the picture that accompanies this story. This photo allegedly shows off the real HTC Aero. As we pointed out earlier Monday, the back of the Apple iPhone 6 actually looks very much like the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8), so HTC should not be blamed for the similarity between the rear of the Aero and the iPhone 6.

Like the original photoshopped image, the newer picture was grabbed off of China's micro-blogging Weibo site. So once again, we recommend that you take this new photo with a grain of salt, just like you did with Monday's story.

The Aero (as we said, also known as the A9), is expected to feature a 5.5-inch screen with 2.5D curved glass, 4GB of RAM, and could be powered by a MediaTek Helio X20 SoC which . There has also been talk of a groundbreaking new camera for the phone, which could arrive as soon as next quarter.
