The next time you feel like complaining about the train being packed, and not getting that precious seat, think about these pictures. Every year during the Spring Festival in China, people in the country have to deal with public transportation systems that are packed beyond belief.

It said that the overcrowding is only during CNY period which is a once a year occurrence. In SG, the overcrowding is a daily occurrence. Besides, those doing the travelling are all locals and the richer ones will pay for flights rather than squeeze with the masses. In SG's case, the locals have to squeeze with the foreigners and the richer ones just get to squeeze more comfortably in their cars on the road but still need to pay through their nose. The other difference to note is that these are people having to travel great distances to get back to their province once a year and hence they may have limited options.

I think if we allow the foreign influx to continue unabated, this scenario happening daily will be the result. So, the pictures should serve as a warning to all SGreans.
