Kaki Bukit Division celebrated this year’s Mid-Autumn on the evening of 14 September 2013 at the pavilion in front of Block 538 Hawker Centre and Market. Volunteers arrived at 5pm and began to set up the site for the evening’s programme. By the time it was 8pm, the pavilion was already a hive of activities.

The Member of Parliament for Kaki Bukit division, Muhmad Faisal bin Abdual Manap welcomed residents to the celebration with the cutting of a mega mooncake. This mooncake was prepared by inmates from the SCORE bakery. Residents who came by also indulged in popcorns, candy floss, ice creams, and the customary mooncakes and chinese tea. Children and the young at heart partook in various kampong games like hopscotch, congkak, ‘five stones’, ‘pick a stick’, ‘eraser wrestling’, marbles and carrom etc. Other kept themselves busy at the mooncake-making and origami workshop. Many residents also challenged themselves to the lantern riddles on display. It was a fun-filled evening of games and food.

On stage, there were exciting games on offer and prizes to be won. From musical chairs to “blowing the biggest bubble”, chaptek and a pomelo peeling competition, there was something for everyone. MP Faisal led residents in the traditional lantern parade around the neighbourhood. The highlight of the day was certainly MP Faisal’s rendition of Teresa Teng's "The Moon Represents my Heart" 「月亮代表我的心」 together with his wife. This is also the first time that MP Faisal is singing a Chinese ballad on stage before a public audience. Memorable indeed.

MP Faisal would like to extend his sincere appreciation to residents for taking time to spend this year’s Mid-Autumn Celebration with the Aljunied Constituency Committee.

 Till next year!
