Alighting passenger injured: Bus wasn't moving when he fell, says SBS Transit
On Jan 18, Michael fell from a bus. He said that the driver drove off before he could alight.
However, after checking the CCTV footage, SBS Transit clarified that the bus was not
moving as passengers were boarding at that time. No one alerted the bus captain of what happened.
The SBS Transit spokesperson, Ms Tammy Tan, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, said:
"We are sorry to learn of Mr Michael's injuries and do hope that he is feeling better.
"We have conducted a thorough investigation into the matter including viewing the CCTV footage.
"At the time of the incident, the bus had come to a complete stop and was in fact boarding passengers.
"Mr Michael was alighting from the bus when he unfortunately lost his footing
and lunged forward. "He landed about two metres away from the bus.
"At this time, no one alerted our Bus Captain that Mr Michael had fallen.
"The Bus Captain saw Mr Michael sitting on the pavement but did not
realise what had happened. "Not knowing that something was amiss, he drove off.
"We would like to appeal to passengers to help alert our Bus Captains to incidents that
happen on the bus as they may not always be aware of what goes on at the rear."
