Cabby charges peak hour booking fee at 4pm
STOMPer Daniel says he was charged an extra dollar for booking a taxi. When he asked the cabby about it, the cabby grew defensive and called him a 'busybody'.
Daniel explained his experience:
"I called a taxi today and boarded a Transcab taxi at 4.30pm.
"Usually, the booking fee for a taxi at this timing is $2.50 but the driver charged me $3.50.
"When I asked the driver why was the booking fee $3.50, he replied that it has always been $3.50. I double-checked the price list pasted on the window and saw that $3.50 was for 7.30-9.30am and 5.00-8.00pm.
"After arguing with him for some time, the driver refused to change the meter and scolded me, calling me a 'busybody' and saying that he did not earn much from the booking anyway.
"What a dishonest taxi driver. $1 also want to cheat me. STOMPers, please beware of taxi drivers that cheat you. Know the booking charges before calling a taxi."
