According to my former reservist buddy who is a used car dealer, he sells many BMWs, Mercedes and Lexus with multiple owners and only 1-2 years left on the COE to insurance agents, MLM salespeople, real estate agents, hawkers etc.

It is precisely because these car owners paid $140,000 for the COE that they have no more money to purchase petrol in S'pore.
