Islam has established peace as a main principle for Muslims’ in dealing with others, Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayyeb, the grand imam of Al-Azhar, said during his address to the 31st International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs on Saturday.

Mohamed El-Doweiny, Al-Azhar’s deputy sheikh, delivered El-Tayyeb’s remarks during the conference, which Cairo hosts 13-14 March, titled “Interfaith and Intercultural Dialogue.”…

El-Tayyeb encouraged dialogue among people as a “requirement necessitated by diversity and differences in tongues and colours.”

He added that dialogue among different people shall be on the plenty of things they have agreed upon.

“Inviting people to the way of Allah shall only be carried out through wisdom, good instruction, and quiet dialogue that does not hurt others or offend them or their beliefs,” El-Doweiny said on behalf of El-Tayyeb.

“Islam rejects every invitation to a belief by force of arms, coercion, or exploitation of the poverty or sickness of people, as Quran states ‘there is no compulsion in religion’,” El-Tayyeb said.

The grand imam explained that the word “peace” and its derivatives have been mentioned in the Quran 140 times, while the word “war” and its derivatives have been only mentioned six times.

El-Tayyeb noted that peace has been established in Islam as a main principle for Muslims in dealing with the world.

“In case you heard or read that a religion has licensed bloodshed and disposession, then you [should] know that this is a deceit in portraying the truth about this religion,” El-Tayyeb added.

Exactly like the life of Prophet Muhammed. When his force was small and under powered, he made alliance and forged relationship through marrying older women with pagans and opponents. When Muhammed force grew big and outnumbered his opponents, he is on offensive, conquering through killing and slaughtering.

The moors crossed over from Morocco to raid and invade Spain. It was a war for more lands and more loot in islam's name. What peace are you talking about?
