A Saudia Airbus A330 made an emergency landing at Jeddah's King Abdul Aziz International airport with its nose landing gear retracted on 21 May.

Saudi Arabia's Aviation Investigation Bureau says there was a "defect" in the aircraft's hydraulic system and nose landing gear. The jet was operating flight SV3818 between Madinah and Dhaka when the incident happened.

Local media reports quote a Saudia spokesman saying that a decision was made to divert to Jeddah after a "defect in the hydraulic system of the A330" was identified. The aircraft, which was carrying 141 passengers and 10 crew members, took off from Madinah at 20.00 local time.

Videos online show the A330 taxiing on the runway without its nose landing gear deployed. It eventually came to a stop on its front belly and supported by its main landing gears. Passengers were evacuated using emergency slides.

Images also indicate that the aircraft was operated by Turkish operator Onur Air on behalf of Saudia.

Passengers were evacuated via emergency slides and no injuries have been reported so far.

A Dhaka-bound Saudi Arabian Airlines flight, which was travelling from Madinah to Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, was diverted to Jeddah after suffering a malfunction of the nose landing gear, Saudi Gazette reported on Monday.

The Airbus A330-200 made an emergency landing at Jeddah's King Abdulaziz Airport with the nose gear retracted.

The aircraft had circled over Jeddah for several hours and was forced to make two low passes, before it was allowed to land at around 10pm. local time (1900 GMT).

The plane suffered considerable damage, but passengers were evacuated via emergency slides and no injuries have been reported so far.

"The pilot made several attempts but failed to correct the malfunction with the front landing gear. Subsequently, the Airbus 330 made an emergency landing with the nose gear retracted," Abdurahman Al Tayyib, a spokesman for Saudia Airline quoted as saying by Al Madinah daily.

He also said that the issue was caused due to a problem with TC-OCH's hydraulic system.

Al Tayyib said that the flight made emergency evacuation. There were 141 passengers on board in addition to 10 crew members. The concerned authorities have started a probe into the accident, he said.

Medical teams at the airport treated 70 passengers while four others were taken to the health center, according to reports.
