finally, an admission from Shan that rental costs are disproportionately high. we have 1st world rental costs with 3rd world wage policies.
while i have not been able to find a ranking of commercial rental costs, i found the cost of rentals for apartments. and there is a strong correlation between residential rental costs and commercial rental costs.

we are ranked 11th most expensive in the world. this should give you an idea of commercial rental costs vis-a-vis residential rents.
this is a real reason why entrepreneurship is so weak in Singapore. exacerbated by landlords demanding 3-6 months of rental deposits.
