Vanya Shivashankar, 13, of Olathe, Kansas, and Gokul Venkatachalam, 14, of Chesterfield, Missouri, tied as winners of the National Spelling Bee on Thursday. Shivashankar correctly spelled the word "'scherenschnitte" and Venkatachalam correctly spelled the word "nunatak."
