Singapore has emerged as the third most corrupt-free country in the world in 2018.

This is three spots higher than the sixth place ranking in 2017, according to Transparency International (TI), an international non-governmental organisation.
85 points out of 100
Singapore scored 85 points out of 100 in the Corruption Perception Index.
The index ranks and measures countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption.

TI measures public sector corruption using rates of bribery, diversion of public funds and conflicts of interest.
In 2017, Singapore scored 84.

Denmark top
Top spot went to Denmark as the most corrupt-free country at 88 points.
New Zealand was ranked second at 87 points.
Finland was tied with Singapore at third place.
Best in Asia
Singapore is the most corrupt-free country in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) said in a media statement on Tuesday, Jan. 29, that the corruption situation in Singapore “remains under control” as there are “low numbers” of complaints received and cases registered for investigation.
An average of eight public sector employees were prosecuted for corruption and related offences over the last three years, according to CPIB director Denis Tang.

Don't forget in order to achieve 3rd rank, corruption not only have to be eradicated on the ground but in many instances, they also have to be leegalised at the top!:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: I think our true ranking is somewhere near the bottom half!

Hard for me not to laugh at the ranking.
There are 195 countries in the world and imagine the tremendous amount of resources needed to do a proper detailed survey of corruptions .
Its not difficult to imagine they rely on published info and in some countries, due to govt control of the press, published info is basically what the govt has censored.
How can you measure corruption in places like North Korea where you cannot even enter the country.
Is it possible to measure corruption in a country where the politicians sues opponents for criticising them, even private postings on FB and quoting of a 3rd party post is being charged /sued.?
It is a futile exercise.
How can a country ranked almost at the bottom for press freedom be ranked high on corruption free/transparency.
To me control of the press itself is corruption-corruption of information which is even worst than financial corruption. What do you call changing the race of the person so that they can/cannot stand for election?
Garbage in garbage out.

The Transparency International even ask this question, how did the wife of PM become head of Temasek?? Really, no corruption??

That's because Singapore is run by an ethnic Chinese majority.

If it was governed by Ang Mohs (eg NZ and Denmark) it would be ranked higher.
