With regards to the news earlier today regarding the President¡¯s salary increase, I do not know why I am not surprised that the next group to increase salary is our leaders. Maybe I can forecast. Anyway, a increment of 26% is a lot more than anywhere else. Therefore brings me to my next topic, why our leaders, who promised and pledge to protect our interest and improved our life (low income), did so little to help?
They know how to control budget on the GDP and put money into our reserves but yet they feel earning millions is not enough for them. Their actions revealed everything about their thinking and motivation for holding on to such a position. For example, a person who volunteered himself should expect no monetary rewards. Our leaders volunteer themselves to serve us, if we exchange their service with our money, it isn¡¯t reward anymore. Another example, a girl love a guy, if it is pure love, money should not be exchange for their sexual intercourse. If money is the median for the sexual intercourse, then it is call prostitution. Which means our leaders, who get paid so much currently, can still leave the position and work for someone who can offer more.
In motivation psychology, motivation is said to be intrinsic or extrinsic. Research has indicated that extrinsic rewards can lead to over justification and a subsequent reduction in intrinsic motivation. In one study demonstrating this effect, children who expected to be (and were) rewarded with a ribbon and a gold star for drawing pictures spent less time playing with the drawing materials in subsequent observations than children who were assigned to an unexpected reward condition and to children who received no extrinsic reward (source from Wikipedia).
In conclusion, by providing monetary rewards reduces our leaders intrinsic motivation which suggested why we are getting poorer and poorer treatment.
