【明報專訊】飲酒對身體到底有何危害？世衛組織早在1988年已確認酒精是人類致癌物，可致口腔、咽喉、食道和肝癌，2007國際癌症研究機構（IARC）把酒精致癌類別加上乳癌和大腸癌。多個大型綜合研究顯示，酒精與高血壓、冠心病、中風、肝硬化、脂肪肝、酒精性肝炎、胃炎、胃潰瘍等有關。
雖然外國有研究指出，適量飲紅酒有利心臟健康，但這說法在醫學界仍有爭議，港大早年亦發表研究指出，針對中國人口的研究未能顯示適量飲酒有助心臟健康。
