Acquitted of rape charge but life has been hell for 3 years

He was convicted of rape and was sentenced to seven years' jail and eight strokes of the cane.
But yesterday, he walked out a free man.
Mr Ong Mingwee, 30, was acquitted of raping the then 22-year-old woman whom he had met in a nightclub in 2009.
He had taken her back to his flat in Toa Payoh North and they had sex.
He appealed against the conviction and the sentence and it paid off. When delivering the judgment, Judge Quentin Loh said that there were large gaps in the woman's testimony.
Mr Ong described the three years since the incident as "hell". His family had to borrow more than $100,000 to fund his legal fees.
His dad, Mr Ong Liang Eng, 58, also felt people were giving him stares.
