Acer to raise prices of new notebooks

By Vincent Chang on Nov 25, 2011

If you're looking to get a notebook for the holiday season, you may have to look harder to get the best deal.

According to a Digitimes report, Acer intends to raise prices for new notebooks manufactured in December. This is due the tight supply of hard drives caused by the floods in Thailand. Acer's hard drive inventory is likely to be depleted by the end of this month and new drives will cost more. The same report also quoted Asus' vice chairman as saying that his company will have to raise prices, too.

In Singapore, we weren't too impressed by the notebook deals at the ongoing SITEX 2011 tech bazaar. Prices for notebooks have remained mostly similar to the previous show, COMEX 2011, while hardware configurations have not improved much. We hope to see better deals during the weekend--check our SITEX coverage for more updates tomorrow.

Yeah, the hard disk prices so ex. Will wait for next year. Maybe hard drives manufacturers will move to Vietnam.

tablet does not have the processing power to do serious work as yet for now.

if i run the software that i normally use for work on it, i am pretty sure it will hang and my data will be lost.
