Acer Timeline 5830 - anybody owns one ?

what lappie to recommend for gaming? I nid one that can play serious stuff like Battlefield3...those graphics intensive stuff n not those facebook wimpies.

for play game build a desktop rig la, custom urself is better.

laptop are for portable works.

even those like alienware etc....honestly i find it a bit overprize for the same performance with respect to a desktop

I met a few web designers and all seem to favour Asus with big big screen.

I'm going to use it for web design. Long battery life is a MUST. Budget less than SGD1K. Sounds ridiculous, but I'm getting it either in Taipei or Bangkok.

want cheap, want green, want near road side...

budget less than 1K cough......sorry cannot help. unless u going for desktop

u have to tell me abt the specs. telling me the model number is not enough. unless u give me the full model no like n61jq-xxxxxx. the xxxxxx behind makes a lot different.

some series although marketed under the same model, their specs like processor and memories are different.i own a n61 series buy it 2 years ago. now there are still labtop that are marketed as n61, but with upgrades. so you have to be careful about this.

from the review i read abt this series, it has long battery life, but its more for office use. you say u wanna do series things related to web design, i am assuming you to be a heavy user on graphic side. i am not sure this fellow has the punch to meet your demand a not. sorry i am not from your field, so i am not too sure about it. but if yours got to do with writing code more than graphic, then i think fellows in this series is just fine.

this is what i noticed in general, those with strong processing power and graphic, battery life will suffer. so its a delicate balance....but if you value battery life...then i think this is fine. people like me go for performance as i hate it when my work "freeze" and i have to rework on it.

if u got a bit of cash, get a solid state drive (it boast the battery life as well), trust me it will really make you feel like driving a ferrari and pump up on the ram. i did and i never regret due to the experience i am having now. cold start up in roughly 20 secs, shut down as well. super fast processing speed due to the fact now the transfer rate in the hard disk is SUPER FAST.

really becareful about this, a lot of dishonest shop sell the older model but prize it as the newer one

this is the older model,

Intel Core™ 2 Duo.

in Sing dollar...should cost around say......600 to 800 dollars. not more than that

I just came back from Pantip Plaza. Only Asus agent is selling UL80vt. Zenbook hasn't arrived.

Guess howmuch is UL80vt ? B15,500. And I can still get 7% VAT refund if I buy.

So we are looking at B14,415, which, converted to SGD, is $600.

I'm told it's RAM is 4 GB.

Seriously, how much does the same model cost in Singapore ?

if its 600, its a kill. go for it.

take it, but check if its a 2nd hand units, ask for goodies! The price current i am not too sure, had a friend that bought similar spec a year ago, cost her 800. i used that as a rough gauge, such lower end product the prize when drop to that range will roughly stay constant till its completely phase out.

It's Asus shop, not dealer. How to check if it's a 2nd hand unit ?

Singapore price only $800 ? Look at last year's ads:

trust me, this is not from last year. i3 i5 i7 already out, this was donkey of years ago

that prize range then can get a i5. who will get a core 2 dual for 1500.

Is core 2 dual very sia suay ? My iMac running on core duo also.

But one thing for sure, I don't play games with computer.

if u dun play game is fine. to me there is no such thing as xia sway or not, its more about do you have enough to get the job done.

i do not understand the real nature of web design. so i do not know how demanding it is on graphic and processing. the best way is look around your friend, see who have similar labtop and try using it with the software you use for your job.

see how you like the feeling of it. if you feel that its fine, no "freezing", well its good enough.

macbook pro or macbook air

these are the only two real option, the rest are just a waste of money.
