House foreign workers on Tekong

>I REFER to the recent debate on housing foreign workers. Maybe we could build living quarters and leisure facilities on Pulau Tekong for them.

Tekong is not obsure, but out of the way!!!. Your workers are working for yards in Benoi/Gul/Tuas areas for example or Sembawang Shipyard, you ferry your workers from Pulau Tekong there? They have to be at the yards, by 6am, and in the evening when they finishes work, they reach Tekong, at what time?. They have to bathe, eat & sleep, and the next day, the cycle repeats!. Not to mention, nigh shifts! That's in Jurong/Tuas side, how about Sembawang Shipyards!. That's the marine industry, the consctruction ones?, on Pulau Blakang Mati (hmm SENTOSA), or those at Marinea bay? or anywhere on Singapore island?

ACE KINDERED..whatever his name is, is talking from his arsehole, he should become a Bangla, India, Thai, Mynamese worker for a week!, I bet!, he would't even write that kind of letter.

These are the type of people, that is removed from reality!, sounds familar!!!!

Government shortlists potential sites to build retirement village

By Serene Loo and Julia , Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 17 April 2006 2124 hrs

SINGAPORE : The government has shortlisted a few potential sites for the construction of a retirement village, and the National Development Ministry is currently studying the details.

The sites are on a 30-year land lease.

And one of them will be picked to test market demand for such villages.

In an exclusive interview with MediaCorp's Channel 8, Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan said in the past, the idea of building retirement villages was put on the back burner as Singapore's problem of an ageing population was not as serious as that in Europe and America.

The Singapore market was also too small for retirement villages to be commercially viable.

But the prospects have since changed.

With a rapidly ageing Singapore population, Mr Khaw said in five years' time, retirement villages will become economically viable.

One obstacle is the high costs of land in Singapore.

"My personal view is, our land is expensive. But we have nearby neighbours in Johore, Batam and Bintan. The elderly want to reach their doctors within half to one hour. So retirement villages in neighbouring countries is possible, barring the cross-border hassle. It is best to find cheap land on short leases," said Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan.

This guy must have known/or have good relations with someone in the states time to allow his articles to be published . States Times nowadays is in the pits in their way of selecting articles for print , Ace article is totally a no brainer to begin with from the logical point of view.

I met this bugger in sports before; frankly he is WEIRD , he literally lives in his own world and all people around will distance themselves from him as having any conversations with this bugger would put you in a state of lost one way or another.

One thing I notice, his looks and general disposition /mannerism puts people off on first impression despite his good nature.
