Elected opposition can be corrupt too
AFTER reading yesterday's article, 'Opposition is best check against graft? MPs rebut Low's claim', I would like to say that it is the duty of the opposition to check against graft. However, what will happen if the opposition itself is corrupt or incompetent? If this happens, the Government would then need to waste time and resources checking this, rather than concentrating on the country and citizens' welfare.
Even though the People's Action Party (PAP) is not and cannot be perfect, it has done well to bring Singapore to where it is today. I also believe the PAP is the longest-serving political party in the world to lead a country democratically.
I believe the PAP is capable of checking itself and if anyone is found to be corrupt, he will be severely dealt with.
