The Chinese proverb 上梁不正下梁弯 translates to "if the upper beam is not straight, the lower beam will be crooked." When our politicians (the "upper beam") behave improperly or set a bad example, it will lead to corruption or misbehaviour among those they oversee (the "lower beam"). S'pore has the wrong type of leadership and influence since our role models are greedy individuals.
