Any bro can recommend a good kaya brand ? When I was small I tried an orange kaya - have memories. Now wanna find back the taste cannot. Still remember the tin blue in Colour. Any bro know ?

Orange kaya hor. Not green not brown.

Orange Kaya due to duck egg yolks.
Sg no more duck eggs now. Go Malaysia. Their Kaya is still the original orange color

golden hue is what i call it. all you need are 3 ingredients: egg yolks, coconut milk, castor sugar. see the yolks? so orangey rich in color. btw, i make my own kaya. must be careful to ensure no direct heat. hot water bath with 2 pots and constant stirring. too short too runny, too long overcook. must be just right.

When you were small, I think I was young and small too, any kaya we consumed was unlikely purchased from a commercial brand sold in the stores. Chances was that the kaya was homemade. The green colouring came from pandan leaves. Orange and brown colours came from different grades of palm sugar. Some aunty or grandma had to be able to make it, or do without it. (Same thing for lots of other foodstuffs too, like bakchang).

Cheers!
