About 2,600 NS-liable PRs renounced status in last 5 years

no wayang wan, they will be met with firing squad at arrival hall

I think many will not mind being shot by this firing squad. Will there be a fire fight?

The 25% default rate over the past five years is hardly surprising. Personally, I thought it would have been a bit higher.

Question: Would these so-called defaulters be allowed back into Sinkie after renouncing their PR status? (for holiday, work, study, etc?)

Have they actually broken any laws?

We know it is higher because the government never releases anything that make them look bad.

They are not defaulters ...they just decided that sinkapore is not their current future. As long as they go through the process of giving up their PR, they have not broken any law.

At the end of the day, sinkapoore will welcome them back after some time. The PAP government is just addicted to foreigners, even to foreigners who screw them. That's a reality which the PAP government doesn't want to admit but is seen by all.

whoever renonce, me give respect. at least they dare to screw balless smelly stinkees.

What kind of serious consequences? Surely, he could spell it out as it would then be a deterrent for draft evaders.

It is all wayang ...that's why he can't spell out those consequences.

I heard from one SPR before that his son who didn't do NS and went to Canada to study, subsequently couldn't get employment pass to work in Spore although a Spore company wanted to hire him. That was last time, don't know about now.

The serious consequence is that he will not be allowed to do reservist training lah. This one is quite serious as he is not going to get 2 weeks every year to siam from wife and go to camp and talk cock with his buddies.

Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen said in Parliament today that over the past five years, about 2,600 second-generation male permanent residents (PRs) have renounced their PR status before serving National Service (NS).

Instead, he said that over the past five years, about 7,200 males who became PRs under the sponsorship of their parents, or the so-called second-generation PRs liable for NS, have enlisted for and served NS.

In the same period, he said about 2,600 NS-liable PRs renounced their status prior to serving NS.

In other words, over 25 per cent of NS-liable PRs renounced their status.

Dr Ng said that, as the Ministry of Defence cautioned, these former PRs will "face serious adverse consequences when they subsequently apply to study or work in Singapore.

This is very serious. Its equivalent to the loss of one infantry regiment every year!! Assuming a 7 man section, that's about 500 to a battalion. 5 years = 2500 men. One battalion a year. I think its the usual ball less PAP and gay Loong. Just past a rule saying that if the PR does not do NS and renounces his PR status, than his entire family must also renounce at the same time and leave singapore with him. and make it retroactive. this kind of law takes 10 mins to draft and 10 seconds to pass in Parliament. gay Loong got balls or not? If you live in singapore and you and your parents enjoy the singapore life (eg. clean air and water and food, good medical facilities, subsidized schooling, your parents allowed to make a better living in singapore than in India or China, etc.) than you have to pay the piper at the end of the day and do your NS.

Looks like the Govt has quietly changed it stance on those who are liable for NS but renounce their PR just before they are called up. In the past it was a straight no if you wanted to study or work here. No ifs and buts. They can only make social visits.

The minister comments suggest that they may still be able to study and work here expect that they may face "serious adverse consequences". Now what can these serious adverse consequences be if they are granted their wish to study and work here? Maybe they cannot eat ice cream, or be banned from Sentosa or cannot take taxi.

Looks like this Govt had yielded to the foreigners again.

I am quite sure it will be dealt with on a case to case basis. Meaning if you have the right cables, no problem.

hahaha.....scroobye talking big and bullshitting again????
can u show the evidence that in the past it was a straight NO????

actually i dont mind if they renounce,if they feel singapore is not suitable for their future, then they must renounce 6 years before the enlistment date.....every year they fail to renounce fine them $10,000.

dont tell us our country is not good enough after u done sucking and leeching enough.if u feel singapore is not worth paying the price.....gtfo!!!!!

Too soon lah ...after some time, maybe a decade, the son will be welcome back.

Can visit Singapore on social visit at anytime like any other visor. Cannot study, work or reside here. Can attend conferences and business meetings.

These regulations were meant for Non Malaysian PRs. Malaysians who reside her with their parents however have different rules. Some are called for NS, some are not. I know one case where the chap did not get call, went to NUS, and then joined a bank and worked I think 2 years. Suddenly called up. As expected, oldest recruit. Mindef told him it was an oversight.

In those days, even some Singaporeans are not called up for NS for security reasons. Some Malaysian PR fall into the category.

This is indeed encouraging news. 75% of PRs going through the baptism of fire to become true blue Singaporeans is a fantastic outcome. It's definitely a victory for the open door policy that the government has adopted.

This 75% are sons of talented foreigners and their future contribution to Singapore's success over the long term will be substantial.

Investing in Foreign Talent is no different from investing in a portfolio. You're not going to win all the time but all you need is a couple of spectacular returns and it makes everything well worth while.

Kudos to the PAP for a job well done.

rubbish.....why does it matter if a few trashes decide to go thru the baptism of fire?singapore already has 1.3 million foreigners of which 900k are on temporary passes....and they are all contributing like magnificent to the success of singapore.....

and investing in foreign talent is like investing in a portfolio, all it takes is a few big winners?does that mean by the time we get that few big winners we will be suffocated under a mountain of horse manure?

What severe consquences he is talking about re entering ng sinkieland for work?only sinkieland can offer jobs?LOL

Even own national NS defaulter only fned $3000/-..none other than melvin tan..

Why is PAP delusional that the world revolves around sinkeland only

Ng Eng Hen only good at threatening and bullying sinkies. When it comes to foreigners it's all hot air and taking at face value. Hope he fuck off to hell soon.
