I think many will not mind being shot by this firing squad. Will there be a fire fight?

The 25% default rate over the past five years is hardly surprising. Personally, I thought it would have been a bit higher.
Question: Would these so-called defaulters be allowed back into Sinkie after renouncing their PR status? (for holiday, work, study, etc?)
Have they actually broken any laws?
What kind of serious consequences? Surely, he could spell it out as it would then be a deterrent for draft evaders.
It is all wayang ...that's why he can't spell out those consequences.

Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen said in Parliament today that over the past five years, about 2,600 second-generation male permanent residents (PRs) have renounced their PR status before serving National Service (NS).
Instead, he said that over the past five years, about 7,200 males who became PRs under the sponsorship of their parents, or the so-called second-generation PRs liable for NS, have enlisted for and served NS.
In the same period, he said about 2,600 NS-liable PRs renounced their status prior to serving NS.
In other words, over 25 per cent of NS-liable PRs renounced their status.
Dr Ng said that, as the Ministry of Defence cautioned, these former PRs will "face serious adverse consequences when they subsequently apply to study or work in Singapore.

hahaha.....scroobye talking big and bullshitting again????Looks like the Govt has quietly changed it stance on those who are liable for NS but renounce their PR just before they are called up. In the past it was a straight no if you wanted to study or work here. No ifs and buts. They can only make social visits.
The minister comments suggest that they may still be able to study and work here expect that they may face "serious adverse consequences". Now what can these serious adverse consequences be if they are granted their wish to study and work here? Maybe they cannot eat ice cream, or be banned from Sentosa or cannot take taxi.
Looks like this Govt had yielded to the foreigners again.
I heard from one SPR before that his son who didn't do NS and went to Canada to study, subsequently couldn't get employment pass to work in Spore although a Spore company wanted to hire him. That was last time, don't know about now.
FUCK YOU ALL SMELLY BALLESS STINKEES! Hehehe. Really wat, STINKEES BALLESS dio boh?

This is indeed encouraging news. 75% of PRs going through the baptism of fire to become true blue Singaporeans is a fantastic outcome. It's definitely a victory for the open door policy that the government has adopted.
This 75% are sons of talented foreigners and their future contribution to Singapore's success over the long term will be substantial.
Investing in Foreign Talent is no different from investing in a portfolio. You're not going to win all the time but all you need is a couple of spectacular returns and it makes everything well worth while.
Kudos to the PAP for a job well done.
