Abdul Malik to join SDP

New Paper yesterday, Malik was prosecuted before, for embezzlement, who the fuck wants an ex convict to be their MP? LOL :p:p

CSJ IS a troublemaker, but he's talented, but ego got over his head. Its too late for him to start over, nobody have confidence in him anymore.

Say 1st hor, i'm not PAP supporter, but i dun blindly supports incompetent oppositions :p:p

We have ex convicts as MINISTERS!

Nothing new :p:p

Malik is a bit naive, but I feel he is still better than Alex tan who seems to put on theatrics from time to time and also have a bit of "ah Q" mentality.

But yes u right, Malik shouldn't have talk to the press so soon. Premature. Really premature.

Just giving my thoughts here.

In my opinion, he should not talk or let slip that he is joining the SDP before the court verdict is out on his actions. (Correct me if the court verdict has been out)

We all know that PAP has influence in the judiciary itself and if they find out they are dealing with a potential opposition member, I am sure they will find the heaviest sentence by law to keep him out of elections.

If people don't vote for opposition because they are like "scattered sand", then I think their brains are "scattered". One doesn't vote based on a such a lame criteria. Nearly all voters face 2 choices, the PAP and one other. The opposition parties contesting in other wards but not yours is immaterial to you.

You don't get the gist. In an election, you don't get votes only from smart clever people ( from those who think smart clever people are). You need to win votes from all kinds of people.

The smart ones, The so-so ones, the scattered brains ones, the not-that-clever type, the bo chup type, the 50/50 type, etc.

Besides seeing things from your own perspective, you must also see from the other side's perspective

Element of surprise is often underrated but key to winning battles. D-Day will have been Death Day if the Allies had not used the element of surprise. It is not wise to show your cards especially when your adversary has not shown his. This is what Malik is doing. Showing his cards (joining SDP) before PAP has shown their cards (passing judgement). After all, LHL has promised to 'fix up the Opposition'. I can only hope LHL was joking about that.

CSJ sure speaks like a sociopath and megalomaniac in this broadcast.

I think he's ok in this speech, if only he's more tactical last time. Now no matter what he does, it's an eyesore to me, LOL :p:p

can Dr Chee contest the next GE?
wiki
On 10 February 2006, Chee was declared a bankrupt by the High Court, after failing to pay S$500,000 in damages awarded to Goh and Lee in the 2001 defamation lawsuit. Upon this bankruptcy order, Chee will not be allowed to stand for elections until February 2011.

Do you know why ST and TNP are rushing and tumbling over each other to reveal that Malik has idea to contest election under SDP banner?

From this video
I think he's better now compared to many years back where he acted like a mad man then. If last time he talked like this, I am sure he would have won more votes then. He may even get a seat.

Probably because some Singaporeans still believe that Chee and the SDP are mad dogs as accorded by mainstream media. Linking him to SDP is going to create negative perceptions of him. I can guess a smear campaign is coming up on his past conviction.

Its the other way round actually. They think Malik has some bad press amongst sinkees. They want to tar SDP further by mentioning Malik is joining.

Not surprised if they keep harping on his past conviction. You are probably right, because now with the influx of FTs causing more problems and with elections looming, some might even vote SDP to teach PAP a lesson. So the best way to counter is to use Singapore mainstream media to tarnish Malik and the SDP together. I will be honest here though, most of those suckers who believed in MSM are always under the illusion that SDP is a good-for-nothing 'hooligan' party.

The MSM can never be trusted as far as AP reporting in concerned.

If u want to know how they are, you gotta pay them a personal visit n talk to them.

Before SBF, i had visited WP open house numerous occasions, you can catch some insight into them and how they talk to you is very revealing.

i also talked to csj and chee siok chin personally, they r definitely not as portrayed in the MSM.

I do. That is why I never take the online support level as the real life level. Looking at the net, I would think SDP would trash PAP 80% to 20%, but it was the other way around in 2006. WP, clearly the most unpopular opposition party net-wise from 2001 - 2006, I would have thought they would lose their deposit in every cranny they contest, but they scored the closest score against the PAP both in 2001 and 2006.

However, opposition unity would make no difference. If I had a time machine and some way to make all opposition come under one party, I could prove it to you that they would still score the same score in all past elections. Unfortunately, I can't.

I used to believe that Chee was a 'hooligan'. After surfing SBF, watching the videos of SDP and hearing the forummers' views, I am convinced that he is a person who dares to speak up for Singaporeans at his own expense, though he could have altered his tactics to stop giving PAP free fodder.

Chee remains one of the biggest enigmas around.

As I remember Scroobal once mentioned, some instances of his action and his credentials plus intelligence contain the biggest discrepancy ever seen. You wouldn't expect a former police ASP, PhD, NUS lecturer, good speaker with fantastic ideas and 5 fantastic books would use his courage on glucose strikes, shouting at opponents, visibly running away from PAP lawyers and fainting in front of the camera. To quote Scro, something doesn't add up.

I used to believe CSJ was a nutjob too, but that was before the internet became a useful medium for socio-political dialogue. You have to talk to them personally however to have the most accurate gauge because even the net can be very misleading. The bottom line is never trust a politician until you know them personally, and never trust MSM no matter what.
