Despite having a lump the size of a tennis ball on his chest, Mr Han Ming Chour was in denial about having breast cancer.

Like most men, the 43-year-old didn’t expect to get it, since it was a cancer associated more with women.

But doctors have warned that although it is rare, breast cancer can occur in men.

Mr Han ignored the lump, which had started off as a small pimple beside his nipple early last year and slowly grew into something the size of a 50-cent coin before it eventually became the size of a tennis ball.

It was only in July this year that Mr Han finally saw a specialist.

The cancer cells spread rapidly and within two weeks, he was at Stage 4. After he was diagnosed, Mr Han went through three rounds of chemotherapy, going in and out of hospital from August.

He died in Tan Tock Seng Hospital on Tuesday.
