1h ·Rule of Law, Rule by Law, Rule by Mob Law
Rule of Law - The Lady Justice is blinded with a balance scale held in the left hand and a sword held in the right hand. This symbolizes impartiality (blindfolded without prejudice of who is being judged), judging with balance of evidence and logic and the power of punishment held in the sword.
Rule of Law depends not only on the Judge but the whole judiciary system which includes the police as well as the public prosecutors.
Rule by Law - the Law is applied with differential prejudice in accordance to who you are, who you know, what's your social status etc.
Rule by Mob Law - this is basically lawlessness whereby punishment or law is applied in accordance to "Court of Public Opinion" instead of the proper professional institutions trained and tasked to evaluate evidences and legal rules in a balanced manner.
Everyone would want to maintain the Rule of Law for our country but everyone tends to form opinions quickly without qualifications by critical thinking. Most of the time, it's a knee jerk emotional responses rather than an reaction after careful examination of the information and evidences of these cases.
The blindfold of the Lady of Justice doesn't symbolize don't need to look at any evidences or details of the cases! Some people must have been mistaken.
Anyone could disagree with the judges and their judgement, but they are trained to examine legal evidences, rules and logical reasoning to determine fair judgement. Thus unless you have a better logical reasoning which is more convincing, else we should just respect the judges and their judgement.
Most of the comments so far, are full of prejudice and personal biasness, instead of presenting logical reasonings or arguments.
We should not subject our legal system to Mob rules. Court of Public Opinion doesn't contain public who are trained in legal terms and logical reasoning. Most of the time, most people are ignorant with only emotional responses.
People can be blind but not wise as the Lady of Justice.
