This is Jek Pui in Bangkok Chinatown where they served curry rice but there's no table eating on stools. Food is fantastic.

After living in Thailand for 20 years Friday was the very first time I visit Hatyai. Since I was a boy I heard many Singaporeans visiting Hatyai in buses via Malaysia, heard how good the food is especially. So now that I have a chance to visit I was all excited since Thursday.

Took the 7.15am flight


After one hour 35 minutes we arrived


Finally arrived




Because it was still very early for our work we decided to look for breakfast and our local salesman drove us here

Bak kut teh

Pork belly with "mei chai" (a pickled vegetable)


Pomfret soup


Verdict = was a great breakfast all dishes very delicious.

Outside the shop saw many people buying Thai durians from a pickup truck






Prices of durian seems to have dropped trmendously

So yesterday after work around noon local contacts brought us to a local Hatyai food restaurant

Last night went for a walk around downtown of Hatyai and also to catch dinner there

Good Sunday morning. Breakfast at local Thai market a while ago

Another new week another new challenge.

6am

My favourite breakfast at the airport is in the Singapore Airlines lounge, chwee kuay

Its about time

Thai tea with jelly and Thai desserts

Breakfast is served

Main course is Korean's beef bibimbap

After mixing with sauce

1.5hrs before landing serve fish and prawn boiled rice

and u-char-kway Thai style with kaya

Finally arrived

Back to Thailand, whenever we have to travel within the country for work we always stay in the so called "salesman" hotels. Don't ask about how many stars I think such hotels does not have any star however they are affordable and clean. One such hotel I stayed in during my Hatyai trip was this:

This is my room. For a very clean room with toiletries and clean white towels this is only 700 baht

So on Friday night we had dinner at a local coffee shop with many stalls.

For a change of food type on Saturday visited Prez Papa a French restaurant for lunch for the first time.

For those who like a good shabu or sukiyaki when you come to Bangkok I highly recommend Hitori. Its a new chain of high quality Japanese beef shabu recently opened many branches around Bangkok. Served individually for each person so you could order what you like.
