Thursday morning flagged a SBS bus number 111 at Tanglin Road (opposite the old MOE) in the direction of Ghim Moh. The moment I boarded the bus was greeted with a "good morning" and a wide smile. Really made my day.

I guess it not everyday one get treated like this by a bus driver and I feel specially good because the driver is a Singaporean.

You mean non Singaporeans dun say good morning?

I find that hard to believe.

Please don't misunderstand. I didn't mean that. I only mean that the driver is a Singaporean and being greeted by one I feel good. So far I've not been greeted by tiong drivers.

Thursday trip you post here today?

You know la this trip back I damn busy with so many customer visits. Will be posting more of my trip to Singapore these 2 days.

He was TRAINED to do so, just like the IMM shuttle bus drivers getting off the bus to 'escort' the alighting passengers.

Deep down inside, he's probably telling you to eat shit and die. :D

I was very sure that smile and greeting was from his heart. Anyway I'm pleased.

Why a greeting is a pleasant surprise ?

Don't all our bus drivers smile and greet the passengers ?

It is in the Customer Service SOP .

Ok, I will make sure that this is tabled for discussion in the next Board 's meeting.

All I am trying to say in this thread was there are some nice Singaporeans out there why so serious?

In my dream only

I have also had "greetings" when I boarded the bus. I think the drivers are instructed to greet passengers as part of improving the passengers travel experience. It cost the bus company nothing.

I doubt that it will last because just imagine the thousands of passengers that each driver has to greet:eek:

There is a driver who I have encountered on route 36 who insists on wishing every single passenger who boards, even during peak hours. I once watched him greet 20 or so people who got on. By the 3rd or 4th stop, he showed no signs of tiring and the passengers were sniggering behind his back.

He was clearly mentally retarded.

This greeting business gets on my nerves....kinda like the american penchant for saying 'have a nice day' to each other...like robots....they say ot so often it is devoid of meaning.

How about you just STFU and drive without making the bus lurch while braking?

Another pet peeve I have with telephone customer service is when they say...."anything else I can help you with?". Hell no bitch...if there was I would let you know. They just folow the training manual blindly.....when will Singos learn to improvise....without a script they are truly lost.

Say "I love you". It'll definitely brighten the day of some pompous individuals. ;)

Hello brother [joetys],

Glad to read that you gave credit, when it was due.
In Toronto, there are bus drivers who are very pleasant, and there are a few who sing and make it fun to be on their buses.

don't worry ... i was kidding you.

But honestly I won't get surprised if I am greeted with a " Good morning " by the bus driver. That is part of their job.

I will be pleasantly surprised if the bus driver greeted me with a " Good morning ! Wow! You look gorgeous! "
