As part of Shanghai’s annual Television Festival, a TV device and accessories show has opened to the public. This year, 4K technology is the talk of the town. 4K TVs have an image quality four times that of normal HD.

This television features an 84-inch screen and the latest 4K technology. Hollywood filmmakers started using the 4K technology last year, and the cinema-like super-high-resolution image quality is now available to ordinary consumers - for a price. This one costs 160-thousand yuan, but the company says it’s making cheaper models for home use.

We’ve also launched 4K TVs with 65-inch and 55 inch screens, with prices ranging from 40,000 yuan to 50,000 yuan. Besides, 4K cameras for both TV production and individual use are also available. The technology represents the future of TV production, and we can say that this year is the start of a 4K era.

It offers me a better visual experience. I can even count the hairs of elephants. But to me the price is a bit too high. If the price can be lowered to 20,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan, I would consider buying one.

But 4K screens and cameras are not enough to get ultra-HD TV programs into homes. The higher quality video presents a greater challenge for post production. Some digital technology companies in China are already developing software for future demand.

For example, how to add captions or add special effects without wasting a lot of time. Compared with films, TV requires more complicated packaging. That’s something post production software for 4K video must solve.

The show also features 3D technology for making TV dramas, as well as the latest audio and lighting systems. It has attracted nearly 400 exhibitors from 30 countries and it runs through Thursday.
