A Japanese eating legend now faces a dark reality after shocking fame

Takeru Kobayashi stunned America in 2001 by eating 50 hot dogs in just 12 minutes, instantly becoming a global sensation.

The Japanese competitive eater, nicknamed “Tsunami,” helped turn eating contests into mainstream entertainment overnight.

But years after retiring, Kobayashi now says his body has paid a permanent price for that fame.

He has revealed that he no longer feels hunger and no longer experiences fullness after eating.

According to Japanese media, his appetite regulation appears damaged after years of extreme competitive eating.

What once brought glory and international praise has instead left him disconnected from one of the most basic human instincts.
