93 arrested, $53,880 worth of drugs seized

SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested 93 people in a 48-hour - 30 May to 1 June - island-wide operation intended to sweep drug activities off the streets.
Eleven of the those arrested are suspected drug traffickers.
During the operation, anti-narcotics officers also seized some S$53,880 worth of drugs.
This included 190 grams of heroin, 61 grams of Ice, 736 Erimin-5 tablets, 176 Ecstasy tablets, 26 grams of ketamine and 12 grams of cannabis.
In one of the operations, a Singaporean couple was suspected of trafficking heroin and 'Ice' from their Jalan Berseh HDB flat.
The 39-year-old man and his 35-year-old wife are being investigated for drug trafficking.
If convicted, they face a minimum sentence of five years' jail and five strokes of the cane.
In another operation, a 30-year-old Singaporean was suspected of trafficking an assortment of drugs in Jurong West.
CNB officers raided his flat and arrested him.
His 27-year-old wife and 24-year-old male tenant (both Singaporeans) were also arrested for drug abuse.
The 30-year-old man is being investigated for trafficking in a controlled drug.
If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of five years' imprisonment and five strokes of the cane.
The 27-year-old woman and 24-year-old male are being investigated for drug consumption.
