SINGAPORE: Three Reform Party (RP) websites were among more than 80 websites found defaced on Wednesday (19 Feb), said the Singapore Computer Emergency Response Team (SingCERT).

In a statement on Wed evening, the Team said it had broadcasted an alert to hosting providers of more than 80 defaced websites at 11am.

“The hosting providers were notified so that they could investigate and take the necessary actions. No government sites were among those affected,” said the SingCERT spokesperson.

SingCERT also urged businesses and individuals to take the necessary precautions to enhance their cyber security, and visit GoSafe Online (http://www.gosafeonline.sg/) to seek assistance.

Earlier Wed, RP Secretary-General Kenneth Jeyaretnam’s announced on RP’s Facebook page that the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) had notified him that the party’s webpage has been attacked, defaced and ordered by the Government to be taken down.

As of 1015pm, the RP website is still not accessible.

SingCERT was started in 1997 by the IDA in collaboration with the Centre for Internet Research, National University of Singapore. The Team’s purpose is to facilitate the detection, resolution and prevention of security related incidents on the Internet.
