73-year-old man damaged 16 taxis at RWS

SINGAPORE: A 73-year-old man used sharp objects to scratch and damage 16 taxis at the carpark of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).

Police said he will be charged with mischief.

The incident came to light in early April this year when two taxi drivers reported that their taxis parked at the basement carpark of RWS were scratched by unknown persons.

Subsequent checks by police with RWS revealed there were other similar but unreported cases.

Together with RWS security personnel, police established the identity of the suspect.

Police said investigations revealed the suspect had used various sharp objects to scratch the paintwork of the taxis out of frustration on multiple occasions.

The total repair cost to the damaged vehicles is valued at approximately S$8,600.

If convicted, he is liable for jail of up to two years, a fine or both.

In the first place,WHY ? the taxis which were damaged is parked there???? Taxis are public transport and i am even surprised some of the taxi damaged didnt lodged any report at all.

Maybe he had lost everything at the casino, and figured that a petty crime that carried a prison sentence would provide free food, lodging and healthcare. There would also be some leniency shown due to his age.

Perhaps in the not too distant future, being in prison is the best way for a senior citizen to spend his/her twilight years.

It's better than silently dying alone in your HDB pigeon hole then having your neighbors call the police a few days later due to an overpowering rotting smell emanating from your decomposing corpse.

It's better than going to an old folks home, which are not cheap.

73 years old is too old to cane. I think run-out date for rotan is 50 years old.
