"Please Forgive Me" is a slow power ballad written by Adams himself and Robert Lange. The song has an instrumental intro, which is only found on the album version of the song. Adams told Songfacts that it was one of the first songs that he agreed to use a modulation in. It is one of his greatest and amongst his most popular songs. The single reached number two in the UK, number seven in the US and number one in Australia. The song was praised by critics upon its release, and has given Adams one of his best chart performances to date, his most highly successful being the 1991 international chart-topping hit "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You". The song helped So Far So Good reach no. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. The music video for this song also received a huge amount of TV airplay. The studio band, who also appear in the video which was filmed live during the tracking dates, included keyboard player David Paich, guitarist Shane Fontayne, bassist James Hutchinson (musician), Adams' band members Keith Scott and Mickey Curry and producer Mutt Lange.

The song was co-written and produced by Mutt Lange. It was a massive radio hit all over the world, and became an instant hit amongst Adams fans. The single has sold over 3 million copies worldwide

"I Like Chopin" was an internationally successful single sung by Gazebo and produced in Italy in 1983 by Pierluigi Giombini. It is generally regarded as one of the most significant Italo disco tracks of the mid-1980s; it peaked at #1 in several European national charts. The piano motif in the song is not a Chopin composition; the music was composed by Giombini, the lyrics were written by Gazebo.

"You Belong to the City" is a rock song written by Glenn Frey (of the Eagles) and Jack Tempchin, and recorded by Frey during his solo career. It was written specifically for the television show Miami Vice in 1985. The song nearly reached the top of the charts, peaking at #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, although it did reach the top of the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart. This song, along with Jan Hammer's "Miami Vice Theme", helped the Miami Vice Soundtrack album reach the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart for 11 weeks in 1985, making it the best-selling album of the year and the most successful TV soundtrack of all time. Frey has performed this song live when touring with the Eagles in this past, but has not done so since 2005. A version of the Eagles performing the song can be found on their DVD Farewell 1: Live from Melbourne released that year.

"Especially for You" was the fifth international single released from singer Kylie Minogue in time for the Christmas 1988 market and is a duet with Jason Donovan. It did not appear on her debut album but was included on Jason Donovan's 1989 debut album Ten Good Reasons. The track did appear on the US version of Kylie Minogue's second album Enjoy Yourself. The single was released on 28 November 1988 and was written by Stock Aitken Waterman.
Its strongest market was the UK, where its release followed the on-screen wedding of the two actors' respective characters, Charlene and Scott, on the Australian soap Neighbours which brought peak audiences.
In the UK, the song lodged for 4 weeks at #2 during the Christmas market behind Cliff Richard (a Christmas fixture) reaching #1 for 3 weeks in early 1989, selling just shy of one million copies. It remained Minogue's best selling single in the UK until 2001's "Can't Get You out of My Head" which became a million seller. The single was a big hit throughout Europe and sold 23,037 copies in Sweden. It was her longest single in New Zealand, peaking at 2 staying there for 21 weeks.

"Billie Jean" is a dance-pop R&B song by American recording artist Michael Jackson. It is the second single from the singer's sixth solo album, Thriller (1982). It was written by Jackson and produced by him and Quincy Jones. Originally disliked by Jones, the track was almost removed from the album after he and Jackson had disagreements regarding it. There are contradictory claims to what the song's lyrics refer to. One suggests that they are derived from a real-life experience, in which a mentally ill female fan claimed that Jackson had fathered one of her twins. Jackson himself, however, stated that "Billie Jean" was based on groupies he had encountered. The song is well known for its distinctive bass line and Jackson's vocal hiccups. The song was mixed 91 times by audio engineer Bruce Swedien before it was finalized.
"Billie Jean" became a worldwide commercial and critical success; "Billie Jean" was one of the best-selling singles of 1983, and topped both the US and UK charts simultaneously. In other countries, "Billie Jean" topped the charts of Spain and Switzerland, reached the top ten in Austria, Italy, New Zealand, Norway and Sweden, and peaked at number 45 in France. Considered to be one of the most revolutionary songs in history, "Billie Jean" was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1989.
Awarded numerous honors—including two Grammy Awards, one American Music Award and an induction into the Music Video Producers Hall of Fame—the song and corresponding music video propelled Thriller to the status of best-selling album of all time. The song was promoted with a short film that broke down MTV's racial barrier as the first video by a black artist to be aired by the channel, and an Emmy-nominated performance on Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever, in which Jackson premiered "the moonwalk". The song was also promoted through Jackson's Pepsi commercials; during the filming of one commercial, Jackson's scalp was severely burned. Covered by modern artists, "Billie Jean" sealed Jackson's status as an international pop icon.

"Sounds Like a Melody" is a song by West German rock/synthpop group Alphaville, from the group's debut album Forever Young. The single was released on May 14, 1984.
In Sweden, the song topped the very first Tracks ever on September 8, 1984.
Unlike most pop music, where song structure is focused on vocal melodies with alternating stanzas, this song also includes an 8-bar instrumental synthesizer melody which is heard once at the beginning, is followed by a verse-chorus-verse structure, and then repeats for almost 1 minute to end the song.

The song was written in 1974 by Donna Weiss and Jackie DeShannon. DeShannon recorded the song that same year on her album New Arrangement. But it was not until 1981, when Kim Carnes recorded her version of the song, that it became a commercial success.
The Carnes version spent nine non-consecutive weeks on top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (interrupted for one week by the "Stars on 45 Medley") and was Billboard's number one single of 1981. The single also peaked at No. 26 on the dance charts. The song won the Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Record of the Year. The song was also a number one hit in 31 countries, including Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Japan, and Brazil, but it achieved more moderate success in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at No. 10.
