It is indeed taxpayers money and there is an expectation to be seen delivering value for money. Unfortunately their work in Parliament is never given fair exposure by the state controlled media. WP also have chosen to try an approach that relies less on media engagement and more on meeting the people on the ground. It seems to work as voters have put them in office.
One also has consider the PAP attitude towards opposition in open confrontation. Imagine you can be bankrupted for waving a Police Report as JBJ found out as a WP candidate.
