7 arrested for stealing in shops

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested four men and three women, aged between 19 and 43 years old, for committing seven separate cases of stealing from shops.
Police said the thefts occurred at NTUC Xtra in Jurong Point Shopping Centre along Jurong West Central from 8 to 15 March 2013.
In 2012, there were 102 cases at NTUC Xtra in Jurong Point Shopping Centre, up by 33 cases from 2011.
Police said NTUC Xtra has put in place several preventive measures.
For example, enhanced security measures such as increase in the deployment of security personnel and plain-clothes in-house detectives, installation of ceiling mirrors and CCTV system and display of crime prevention posters and Police standees were put in place to deter and detect shop lifters.
