A 68-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of shoplifting – over a $1.45 packet of vegetables.

Prime Supermarket said Ms Tan Chuan Boy had left the premises of its Hougang Avenue 1 outlet without paying for the item.

For her apparent memory lapse, Ms Tan was arrested for shop theft, bundled into a police car, and spent a good part of her morning at Ang Mo Kio Police Station helping the police with their investigations.

hi there

1. for such easy target, mata is damn "efficient".
2. whereas for the www2 bomb thing.
3. you die your biz man!

Shop manager should have asked the ah ma to pay up then remind her politely to be more cautious in future.

Police, upon arrival, should have warned the ah ma to be more careful in future. That is, if the stupid manager die die want the ah ma arrested. Get ah ma to pay and close the case.

Now, ah ma goes matachu. Enter lock-up. Wait for IO to record statement. Then, bailer to bail ah ma. IO wraps up investigation and for such cases, it is always a stern warning in lieu of court prosecution - first time offender, amount below $50/-, no similar offence before etc. Even the IP and all the papers used cost more than $1.45. Waste time and money. Though ah ma no criminal records coz not charged in court, she kena intel records.
